Sunday Mass Schedule Change With the increased activities, particularly on Sundays, our parish has been facing the challenge of the need for more space. This need was voiced during our Parish Transformation process in the year 2015 and it becomes more evident now. In order to solve this “good problem,” and after so much consultation and prayers, I decided to change our Sunday 9:30am Mass to 10:30am, effective on Sunday March 5th, the First Sunday of Lent.
This new schedule will allow our Religious Education students to have their Sunday class from 9:15am to a few minutes before the 10:30am mass. Below are a few advantages for this change:
With this change, our monthly Indonesian and Mandarin mass will move to 12:00 noon on the respected Sundays and our yearly Italian Feasts with St. Rocco and SMI will be worked out accordingly. I understand that this change will affect most of you. I ask for your openness, understanding, and cooperation since at the present moment, this is the only doable-way to resolve our space constraint as our parish continues to grow. ~Fr. Francis Spiritual Stewardship
By Kathryn F. (a student in our Parish Religious Education Program and Daughter of George & Renee F.) Liturgy is very important in our faith, as are the Sacred Scriptures that are the life and strength. From my few experiences of serving in my ministry during Mass, I’ve learned that the role of Lector is very important and that a lot of preparation comes with it. Not only are Lectors proclaiming the Word of God, but in order to do so, they must realize and understand what they are reading. When reading scriptures, Lectors must combine both faith and skill as they are responsible for affecting God’s presence amongst the Catholics gathered in worship. From serving in the ministry I’ve chosen, I feel that I’ve been able to pay more attention to different scriptures now, and carefully read them, making sure that I understand what is being said. This year, I have learned a lot about Confirmation and feel that I have been guided even farther in my faith. From the many discussions of scriptures to the relevance of religion in daily life, I’ve learned lots of things that have made me think about my daily life and how the risen Lord is working through me. Whilst in Mass every Sunday, I can feel the connection that goes through the community as we understand that God is and will always be there watching over and teaching us to be the best versions of ourselves. I have learned about what it is to be a good Catholic, about Jesus’ example and sacrifice, and what we can do as children of God to spread and share His works. The lessons that we follow in my class along with our natural discussions have helped me in my life because it has made me think about the choices I make, the relationships I choose to keep, and who I want to be as I grow up. Although I feel that being a Catholic at times can be difficult and our desires push against our beliefs, I come to realize that we are always forgiven of our sins and that our faith in Christ is what keeps me going to be the best person I can be. Confirmation is an important sacrament because it helps to deepen our lives with Christ in our society and world. By receiving Confirmation, I believe that my own personal relationship with Christ has been strengthened. I will continue to witness and give praise in my life and to remember the memories and lessons that I have made in my religion classes and I look forward to sharing the teachings and word of Christ. Amen. |
